The lithium-ion battery industry has seen vast developments in a short amount of time. It is stemming from the need for non-traditional energy solutions combined with great minds pioneering the way.

The lithium-ion cell industry is growing significantly with unrivaled determination. We are among the many who are excited to see what we can accomplish with these advanced technologies as we all work towards a clean energy transition.

Commercializing secondary Lithium-ion batteries

Starting in 1991, Sony pulled the trigger of the secondary battery industry by commercializing secondary Lithium-ion batteries for portable electronics, batteries have been gradually developed and widely used in many applications such as electronics, ESS, and most popularly today, EVs.

Patent filed for NMC

In 2001, Jeff Dahn and Zhonghua Lu filed the patent for NMC.

NMC based electrode commercially available

Lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) cathodes, developed and adopted for a wide range of applications such as e-mobility and energy storage system (ESS)

Nobel Prize

In 2019 John B. Goodenough received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for this proposal of the concept of Lithium-Ion based secondary battery.
